Meet Braedy Grittman.
“Thinking and talking about that day when Braedy starts to walk. Can never hold back the tears when this subject comes up. Or the day i hear “I love you Mom.”
His parents, Brandon and Quincy Grittman, have a Facebook page called “Team Braedy” where they are documenting their effort to raise money to move to Colorado and get help for their son. I spoke with Brandon earlier this morning and he had some great things to say about the support his family has been getting:
“Our community is soooooooo supportive of us and Braedy. To my surprise we also are getting nothing BUT support with the move to CO and trying the medical cannabis oil. I was scared we’d get snooty comments, a loss of supporters, noses turned up to us and all the backlash that comes with the stigma of giving a 2 yr old “marijuana”.
Follow the Grittman’s “Team Braedy” Facebook page here. The Iowa Board of Pharmacy heard testimony concerning cannabis ability to treat epilepsy four years ago after holding four hearings around the state for patients to come forward and testify — after which they recommended that the Iowa Legislature legalize cannabis for medical purposes. The Legislature ignored the recommendation, however, and today, patients like Braedy, Quincy, and Maggie are being forced to flee to Colorado to get low-THC cannabis oil for their seizures.
Follow WeedPress on Facebook here. If you’d like to share your story as to how cannabis could help you or your loved ones, email me at email@example.com. You can also message me on the WeedPress Facebook page, or Iowa Patients for Medical Marijuana’s Facebook page. You don’t have to feel alone or ostracized — there are other people like you here in Iowa who share your plight. Write to me, and not only will I put your story here on WeedPress, I’ll take your story straight to Legislators this next year.
It’s time the Legislature took a look at the Pharmacy Board’s recommendation from four years ago.
Thanks for reading.
